Please... let's stop being so mean to Donald Trump. The poor man... he's been through such a terrible ordeal. Surely, we can forgive and forget..?

Okay... I tried it and I just threw up in my mouth a little. Please disregard my last outburst. Lock him up.

Back when Trump was in his first month in office, I predicted that he wouldn't even make it through his first term. I didn't just predict it here -- I predicted it to just about everyone that I know personally, too. Some of them said I was crazy.

This past week has seen a number of Trump's buddies turn against him. Michael Cohen was just the tip of the iceberg... in the past couple of days, several more have jumped ship and made immunity deals, in exchange for cooperating with the feds. I won't go into the details, because those details are plastered all over the news and we keep hearing more and more every day.

Basically, it looks like my prediction is coming true a lot sooner than I had expected it to. So now I have an updated prediction:

I believe that Donald Trump will resign soon. He'll resign for several reasons:

(1) So he can later claim that resigning was his own decision. Just think about Trump's ego and his narcissism for a moment. It has to be HIS choice to leave the White House. And he'll blame his subordinates.
(2) He'll resign in order to protect his own children from harm. At least, that's what he'll tell himself. Personally, I think his kids are gonna get nailed when New York State investigates The Trump Foundation. 
(3) He'll resign for the same reason that Richard Nixon did, back in 1974. Trump resigns in order to avoid impeachment, and then Mike Pence gives him a pardon. Trump will still face lawsuits and indictments from individual states, but at least he gets to escape The Big One... which is the accusation that he committed treason by colluding with the Russians. That's one of the worst federal crimes that you can commit in this country. We used to give people the death penalty for that. Now it's just life in prison. But Mike Pence would have the power to pardon Trump, being that it would indeed be a federal matter.

I suppose it's possible that Trump might actually try to stay where he is until the November elections... but at this rate, I doubt that he can last that long. The elections are still more than two months away and the man is already visibly falling apart. Seriously, if things get much worse for Trump, then they're gonna need to put him on a suicide watch or something. Shit... along with all of the legal heat building under Trump's ass, there's also a rumor that his wife Melania is planning to divorce him as soon as he's out of office. The man's life is totally falling apart.

One way or another, I can't see how it would be possible for Trump to remain president for much longer. Right now, he stands on the verge of being accused of so many high crimes that at best he would spend the next 300 years in prison. Meaning... the rest of his life. This is why I think he'll resign before all of that goes down. Then he'll probably skip out of the country and go live with Vladimir Putin.

Buh bye, baby Donald -- you fucking vicious piece of shit. Somebody get those Gucci handcuffs ready. Polish them up nice and shiny... because Donny deserves the very best.

That quote is taken straight from Gallup. And before some homunculus says "Polls don't matter," oh yes... yes they do, because they sway public opinion. Polls are also indicative of trends.

I have no doubt that there are many fine, decent people on the right. Of course there are. But in this day and age, the right-wing has been usurped by a much larger number of simple-minded Neanderthals, who wish for America to be a violent country. They get off on it -- it makes them feel powerful. This is why MILLIONS of decent people have defected from the Republican party in recent years and have re-registered as Independents. So you see, it isn't a matter of propaganda, folks. It's pure science. It is easy to predict that in another 10 years at this rate, there won't be any such thing as the Republican party. Thanks to Trump, they will probably die an even quicker death than that. But I understand how most of you must feel. You voted for Trump, you got duped, and now you feel ashamed. But instead of owning your shame, you're twisting it into anger instead. Blindly lashing out, like a wounded animal backed into a corner. You all need to understand that nothing you say or do will make any difference. Donald Trump is going to be removed from office soon. That's final.

Previews of Bob Woodward's new book have already set off an avalanche in Washington. When that book hits the book stores in a couple of weeks, I think we can expect to see Trump's approval rating drop to 25% or less. Trump's days are numbered, folks. It's not a matter of "if" now... it's a matter of "when." Just as it was for Richard Nixon, back in 1974.

Somewhere on this board, there's a post that I made back when Trump was first elected (or shortly thereafter) and in that post, I predicted that Trump wouldn't make it through his first term. If anyone feels like searching for that post, then be my guest... I can't remember which topic I posted it in. I based that prediction on my belief that Trump is a malignant narcissist and a criminal... but I gotta say, I don't have a crystal ball and I had no idea that things would unfold in quite the way that they have. This is unquestionably the most insane presidency in American history... it has become so volatile and bizarre that I worry about Trump's deteriorating mental state. This is the guy who can push a button and start WWIII if he wants to... so it's time for everyone to sit up and pay attention.

I had a conversation today with an old friend, and we came to what I hope will be an optimistic conclusion...

We were discussing the worst-case scenario -- namely, what if Trump gets away with all of this shit and then actually gets elected to a second term..?

I won't go into a long list of particulars... I mean, jeezis, our conversation lasted almost 3 hours... but we both agreed on something important: that this entire experience has scared the living shit out of Donald Trump. This ongoing debacle in Washington has almost certainly been an educational experience for Trump... yes, even an idiot like him can learn new things. So I think we can expect that in the future, Donald Trump is going to be on a short leash. For example, I don't think we will EVER see another disgusting situation like we've had in his dealings with refugees and their children at the southern border. And I also expect Trump to begin, at least publicly, to distance himself a bit from Putin. And many other lessons.

In short, I think Trump came charging into the White House with the expectation that he would run it the same way that he runs a big business... and what he is quickly finding out is that Washington is not merely the studio for another episode of The Apprentice. He doesn't get to do whatever he wants. He can't simply fire everybody who annoys him. He can't just waltz down the hallways of the White House, crotch grabbing every cute female employee that he sees. He can't lie his face off every day and expect to keep getting away with it. I could easily go on, but I think we all know what Trump's major failings are.

So that is my expectation: that even if we're saddled with Trump for another 6 years, his days of behaving like a thuggish megalomaniac are rapidly coming to a close. I realize, of course, that many of you will have a different take on it and I wouldn't blame you if you disagreed.

But would the Republican party even back him for a second term?

The sole eyewitness to the crime... Mark Judge... has been DELIBERATELY hidden away by the Republicans. So forget about all of the other facts for a moment... because this is the most damning fact of them all. People who are innocent do not go to the trouble of hiding witnesses... GUILTY people and ONLY GUILTY PEOPLE go the trouble to hide witnesses. Therefore, I think we can deduce that hiding Mark Judge is effectively an admission of Kavanaugh's guilt. There is no other rational conclusion, in my view.

Of the four senators who were on the fence before the FBI's rushed farce of an investigation, three of them (Republicans Jeff Flake and Susan Collins and fake DEMOCRAT Joe Manchin) have declared they will vote yes on the confirmation. Only Republican Lisa Murkowski had the guts to stand up to Bitch McTurtle and the Repigfucker whips. Of course the proof is in the pudding; the confirmation vote will likely be held tomorrow and there is always the (very) slight possibility one of them could change their minds. But it's likely Trump will have Kavanaugh sworn in and sitting on the bench by Tuesday, only a week behind schedule. >:(

We can only hope that this process fires up enough people on the left that they will get out and vote these pigs out of office. But my lack of faith in the American people has been upheld time and again. We can also hope that Kavanaugh's rulings will effectively have an asterisk next to them, and when he retires in 20 or 30 years a bunch of those 5-4 decisions can be reviewed and overturned by a new Court. Or the next Democratic president can add two more justices to the court, giving us a 6-5 majority (there is no Constitutional limit to the size of the court and while it always seems eventually to revert to a default of nine justices, there have been more before. Certainly these are extraordinary times and it may be time to buck precedent to salvage what little remains of American democracy. >:(

I think the problem in most of these situations is that the public has a ridiculously short memory. Everybody is up in arms about something TODAY... but a few months from now, nobody gives a shit about it anymore and they go back to doing business-as-usual. And then they'll smile to themselves and go back home.

If I'm right, then you won't see this showing up on any polls... those fine ladies will pretend to be good little Republican girls right up until election day. But I know women... and I know how this sort of thing stews about inside their lovely little heads for WEEKS sometimes before they finally react to it outwardly. Another thing that I know about women is that -- above nearly any other consideration -- women need to feel SAFE in their lives. And they expect us men to help them feel SAFER. Honestly, I think the only female drive that is stronger than the need to feel safe is their maternal instinct. Well, what the Republicans have just done... by installing a possible serial rapist who is anti-abortion onto the Supreme Court... is that they have made 200 million American women feel LESS SAFE.

Oh man... that is a REALLY big no-no, guys. This is MAJOR and any woman will tell you so. But you know how most women are. They'll bite their lips for right now, they'll think "Well, the men have done it to us again," and they'll try to just eat it and shrug it off. But deep inside, this "I feel less safe because of these old white men" crap is going to fester and roll around in their minds for days and weeks and months. Eventually, it's going to boil to the surface and manifest itself as an extreme anger and hatred of Trump, of Kavanaugh, of Republicans, and possibly of older white male politicians in general. OUCH. And this is primal, guys... it's not something that you will ever talk women out of feeling. It's an instinctive fear that is coming straight from their female human DNA.

So where might all of this lead..? Here comes another of Tessera's famous predictions...

Twenty years from now, there won't be any such thing as the Republican party anymore and MOST of the members of Congress will probably be women. THAT is what the GOP has done to itself with Trump and Kavanaugh. I've spent the past several decades watching the Republicans shoot themselves in the foot... but this time, they've shot themselves in the face.

I hope you're right. This nation and the planet in general needs to make a SHARP left turn and start dealing with the damage decades of rightward drift and right-wing misrule have done to our societies, our psyches and our planet. >:(

A Democratically controlled House *will* impeach Trump, no matter what, because that's what their constituents will demand. None of them are talking impeachment right now, because it's premature and might skew the November election. But you can bet that in 2019, Trump absolutely *will* be impeached and his crimes will then be on display for all the world to see. Don't forget that an impeachment proceeding will guarantee the House the power to subpoena Trump's tax records, his other financial records, plus they'll be able to subpoena witnesses... the whole enchilada. How To Shut Up Any Trump Supporter

I think I posted this already, but I can't recall... so I'll post it now...

Have any of you gotten into a flame war with the Trumptards on the internet..? Well then, I'm here to help. I've been engaged in HUNDREDS of flame wars during the past few months and if you know me, then you know that I'm not an easy person to get into a fight with. But anyway, I've discovered a sure-fire way to shut them up and force them to scurry away, back into their rat holes.

It's simple: just ask them one, single question that so far, NONE of them have been willing to answer. Are we ready..? Then here it is:

If you came to believe that Donald Trump was guilty of serious crimes, then would you continue to support him..?

Thus far, I have asked that question of at least three dozen Trumptards and none of them... not a single one... has ever answered it. In every case, they bailed out of the flame war with me and never returned.

Gee... I can't imagine why. And when you think about it, their refusal to answer is, in itself, very telling indeed. It tells me that their conviction is weak... and that's good news for our side. But go ahead... give it a whirl.

As an aside... here's a fun idea:


As most of you know, I've created a few mods over the years for my favorite PC games. Most of my mods have been adult in nature.

Well, I'd like to announce that I plan to create a new mod soon, for the zombie apocalypse shooter game known as Left 4 Dead.

If you are at all familiar with that game, it pretty much consists of forming a heavily armed party and then slaughtering huge numbers of zombies,
as you make your way toward your objective. It's quite a bloodbath, has a fairly high degree of realism and is definitely not suitable for children.

I'm planning to re-texture a large proportion of the zombies in that game, so that lots of them will be wearing "MAGA" t-shirts.
You know... the favorite slogan of Trumptards everywhere. I think you get the idea behind this little plan of mine.  :P

I'll release it as soon as it's finished and then, those of you on the left who are a bit more militant (as I tend to be) can have loads of fun,
shooting and killing literally hundreds of zombie Trumptards. It's going to be quite a treat for me, I can tell you. I hope you will enjoy it, also.

Stay tuned for further details. I'm working on this new mod as we speak. I might also put some of the female zombies in "Trump 2020" shirts.
Also, I may include some anti-Trump wall art and such as an added bonus. I've only just started on this, so I can't be any more specific right now.

Well, the one thing that every malignant narcissist fears more than anything else is:

EXPOSURE

An extreme narcissist spends his entire life convincing everyone around him that he's special... a breed apart... a superman. They'll go to enormous and often ridiculous lengths to maintain that illusion. Pathological lying is just the tip of their iceberg. And the one thing that terrifies every extreme narcissist is the possibility that one day, in front of everyone, they will be exposed as a phony, a fraud, a normal person... or even worse... as an inferior person.

Trump is getting very close to the point where he will be exposed for everyone to see... for the ENTIRE WORLD to see. He has desperately tried to do all that he can to prevent this from happening... but now, he knows that it has become inevitable. Soon, everyone will know that Donald Trump is, indeed, nothing more than a cheap, jumped up little thug... who has never accomplished anything important on his own, and is in fact a 100% artificial person.

Expect Trump to blow a fuse any time now. Could be days... could be weeks... could possibly be in a few months from now. But he's already hiding in the basement, and letting his equally phony wife Melania speak for him. I honestly think that my prediction about Trump not lasting until the end of his first term is becoming increasingly certain... more so with every passing week.

Let's just hope he doesn't decide to take the rest of the world with him. :P

This is why the Republicans in the Senate will ultimately dump Trump. It really doesn't matter what they do or don't believe, nor does it matter whether they are moral or immoral. The bottom line is this: Trump is directly responsible for their party suffering its single worst defeat in modern history. If they continue to support Trump, their party will be driven to extinction... and they know it. Their choice then becomes clear: dump Trump and try to come out as heroes in the eyes of the voting public, or stay with Trump and be smashed so badly in 2020, that they will effectively cease to exist.

Well, it is now official: Donald Trump is a criminal.

During the trial of Michael Cohen, federal prosecutors came right out and stated... in court... that Trump is strongly implicated in several very, very serious crimes. Including campaign finance violations.

As I see it, Trump committed most of his crimes PRIOR to when he became the president. Therefore, the DOJ's tradition of not indicting a sitting president should be re-examined in this case. Trump must be indicted and removed from office.

Trump's entire presidency is illegal and illegitimate. Trump and Mike Pence must be removed and then, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi would become the sitting president until the election in 2020.

I just had a nightmare thought...which probably won't happen due to Trump's ego, thankfully.

The Speaker of the House is next in line after the president and vice-president, true. But the current speaker of the House is Republican Paul Ryan. He will hold the office until January. :P

If Trump and Pence resigned before January 20 or whenever the date is that the next Congress is seated...

Paul Ryan would become the next president of the United States! As such, he would leave the Speaker post and no longer be subject to being unseated when the new Congress comes in. :o

And Nancy Pelosi would continue to serve as Speaker under a Republican president. Gack!

Fortunately, like I said, Trump is both too egotistical and not enough of a team player to do this for the sake of keeping his party in power, like some Repigfuckers would. ;)

Your comment presumes that the border fence had an appreciable impact upon illegal immigration. There could be many factors at work. Cause and effect is what we're talking about here. Imagine that every time a large group comes across the border, it happened to be raining. Should we deduce that rain causes immigration..? Should we double the number of border guards on rainy days..? Or should we simply deduce that the weather had nothing to do with it, and there may be other factors..?

Fences will not deter anyone who is dead set on crossing the border. They'll get a ladder. They'll get a hacksaw. They'll dig a tunnel.

Meanwhile, statistics show us that the vast majority of illegal immigrants are people who came into the USA legally and then deliberately over-stayed their visas. That is a fact... so a fence or a wall or whatever would have no effects of any kind on the majority of illegal immigrants. Trump's wall is nothing but a big waste of money... we have much better and more high-tech (and cheaper) ways to monitor border crossings.

As far as drugs entering the USA are concerned, nearly all of them come in through legal points of entry and so again, a wall wouldn't have any effect upon drug trafficking.

The best answer to illegal immigration is to improve the conditions in these people's country of origin. If their lives could be made better where they were born and raised, then why would they want to leave..?

Sorry; as I stated before, I do not get news from propaganda outlets like Fox, ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, CNN, etc.  I have to ask, though, do you?  Really seems like it.  Anyway, though, I broke rule number one and have discussed politics.  I really don't care if people agree with me or not and as all minds are made up, there really no cause to so I'll go mute (probably) but I will wind this down with a story.  When Carter was President, I became disillusioned with the changes in the Democrat Party so left it.  Some years later, even my father, who usually voted straight ticket Democrat, switched to the Republican Party when he retired from the steel mills.  I asked him why and he told me that the Democrat Party was good for the working man but terrible for those retired.  I myself could never join the Republican Party so stayed independent.  I witnessed several cruddy Presidents - GHW Bush, Clinton (did he ever speak the truth in his life?), GW Bush, and Obama.  I have not been a Trump supporter but, given that he was running against Hillary and having my primary candidate lose out, I voted for him.   Really, the main reason we are stuck with Trump is due to Hillary as the candidate and Obama.  I didn't expect much from Trump since both parties despise him so I can't be disappointed.  I have come to three conclusions over the years:

1.  We need a viable third party.  My suggestion has been for years that the socialist wing of the Democrat Party form its own party, the Constutionalist wing of the Republican Party form its own party, and the so called RINOS and blue dogs form their own party.  That way, the current split in both parties would be gone (well, until they'd come up with new ones) and there'd be three homogeneous parties.  No need for divisive race or ethnics based policies to get votes that way either.
2.  Term limits to end entrenched power by the political class elites and return power to the people.
3.  This space intentionally left blank

I am scared, really.  I've seen this country become more and more fascist since the 60s with the government getting more and more powerful at the expense of the people.  The Constitution is now only followed when convenient and changed at the whim of a judge.  We need positive change but that won't happen with the entrenched power of political elites (both parties), special interest groups (Greens, environmentalists, etc) with deep pockets, and with the entrenched position between socialism and Constitutionalism that we currently have.  The world looks so much like it did in 1919 with the same divides which bred the form of socialism called fascism and that didn't work too well for the world.

--  and therein lies the problem - neither party backs him so if anything is to get done, teeth have to be pulled.  The two-party monopoly is the problem with it's entrenched power that goes with it.  How to fix it?  Convention of the states would be a start but big money would likely spoil the milk there too.  I'm afraid it'll take a major war or a depression or some other large disaster to break the mold we made in the last 50 years.  Really, this started 150 years ago when the first republic was changed into the second via the Civil War - the big government cancer has been growing since.  What does the Constitution say?  The federal government has three areas and three areas only that it is responsible for (national defense, international relations, and interstate commerce).  The rest is left to the states and local government.  If we want to return to being a free people, we need to return to this.  How?  I haven't the foggiest but world government is the wrong direction.  I for one don't need some namby pandy bunch of elitists telling me how to think with their one size fits all approach.

Not some plutocrat like Howard Schultz, but someone like Bernie Sanders or Elizabeth Warren (or AOC, who will be 35, the Constitutional minimum age, in 2025 when she would take office). 2) Appoint two more justices to the Supreme Court, defeating the Republican theft of Scalia's seat that Obama should have been able to fill and creating a liberal majority (nine justices is traditional, but not statutory - there have been as many as 12 justices at one time). 3) Wait for an appropriate case to be presented and then rule correctly, to overturn as much of the prior horrible decisions as possible (it might take more than one case). 4) Legislate (or amend) strict limitations on individual donations to candidates, parties or PACs, and prohibit donations by corporations entirely, and eliminate all dark money. First Amendment NOT killed whatsoever. :P

The Citizens United decision was such a fat load of bullshit, that I don't even know where to begin. So I'll just limit my comments and keep it simple.

First off... corporations are not people. Corporations are abstract financial entities. And corporations in their present form didn't even exist when the Constitution was written. If they had, then you can bet your ass that there would have been an amendment prohibiting the sort of crap that the Citizens United decision permits.

Furthermore, this has never been a free speech issue... and I have no idea why the Supreme Court viewed it as such. Money is not speech. Money is finance. Nowhere in the First Amendment does it say "You have the right to spend as much money as you wish in order to corrupt the integrity of the political process." Bribery is not free speech. Bribery is a crime.

"Free speech" would be the right for corporations to publicly promote a particular candidate or agenda, via oratory or some sort of big halftime show in the media, or putting up billboards all over the place, or whatever. But they do exactly the opposite: they keep everything as quiet and as secret as they can, and just funnel ridiculous amounts of cash under the table to some politician or political group. That's not speech... that's conspiratorial. They aren't speaking out in favor or in opposition to anything... they're using clandestine financial pressure to effectively purchase the political process, and rob the rest of us of our democratic power. Most of the time, they funnel that money through some fictitious third-party entities, in order to hide their identity. Again -- that's not speech. That's conspiratorial.

Isn't it interesting that we have laws which prohibit any sort of political advertising within 300 feet of a polling place..? Isn't that a free speech issue, too..? The inconsistency and the hypocrisy of the Citizen's United decision will go down in history as being one of the most partisan and corrupt Supreme Court decisions of all time.

First of all, AOC is not eligible to run in 2020, and no one has suggested that she should. The minimum age requirement for presidents is 35. AOC is only 29. She wouldn't be eligible to run until 2024.

I'd love to see any poll that shows that there are more conservatives than liberals in America. The Republican party... the last bastion of conservatism in America... has dwindled down to being a mere 24% of all registered voters. About 33% of voters are Democrats (it seems to vary by a couple of points) and the remainder... the majority... are Independents like myself, most of whom identify as being left-of-center. So whatever poll you were looking at was obviously conducted improperly... probably by some conservative group with an agenda. Use your head... if most Americans were conservatives, then most Americans would be Republicans. The last time this country took a significant swing to the right was 35 years ago, during the 80's. It has been slowly drifting back toward the left ever since.

Regarding socialist candidates in general: I need to inform you that back in 2016, numerous "what if" polls were taken, by various different organizations and agencies, including Fox News and many others. On the question of "Who would you vote for: Donald Trump, or Bernie Sanders," damned near every single poll taken, by every single organization, showed Sanders winning by double digits.

If you doubt me, you can still find those 2016 polls on the web. You may have to hunt around a bit, but you'll find them. The right-wing goons at Fox did their best to downplay theirs, and it was a major embarrassment for them.

Furthermore, Bernie Sanders just happens to be the most popular politician in Congress right now (based upon overall approval ratings). Although rising star AOC just might grab that number one spot away from Sanders soon, given how fast her popularity has been increasing. Both of them happen to be democratic socialists.

Honestly, I don't know whether democratic socialism would be better or worse. No one does, because it has never been tried in America before. Well, you asked :)   It does look like I was about two years out of date - this isn't something one continuously checks.   The second two relate to the first.  I saw many others but I'm not inclined to do an all night search.  I hope for something at "real clear politics" (it's where I first saw the several polls) but it isn't current enough and the search brought up unrelated items.  Also remember that socialists are a part of the liberal movement, not the whole.  I have no idea at what percentage.  I never mentioned Sanders - I'm much more comfortable with him then Cortez except for his age.  If he ran, he'd be the oldest candidate on record (I don't have time to source that - I read it somewhere, OK?  The article was pro-Sanders so I believe it).

Well, Bernie's age is not really a factor for me. We're all aware that the average human life span is increasing. So it was inevitable that sooner or later, we'd arrive again at the "He's the oldest candidate in history" point. Back in 1980, we reached that milestone with Ronald Reagan. Fact is, people are living longer nowadays. I would imagine that a century from now -- maybe sooner -- there will be a president who is still in office at the age of 100.

Regarding AOC... the point I was trying to make is that she is doing remarkably well, for a 29-year-old ex-bartender who has never run for office before. Of course she lacks experience... we can't expect her to perform with the same poise and confidence of a veteran like Nancy Pelosi or Chuck Schumer. But considering that AOC has only been in office for one month, I'd say that she's doing remarkably well. Let's all give her a chance to settle into the job.

Just recently, director and activist Michael Moore referred to AOC as being the de-facto leader of the Democratic party. I'm not sure that I would go that far... not yet, anyway... but she certainly is making her mark.

Oh... and I apologize for the digs that I gave you regarding AOC. In my own defense, let me point out that this is not the only board that I am active on. Lately, I've been running into quite a few petty little InCel wankers, whose major motivation for bashing AOC seems to be stemming from the fact that she's really hot looking, so they're frustrated because she's unattainable (for them) and they can't fuck her. They pretend that they have various other reasons for putting AOC down... but when I've held their feet to the fire, they usually end up screaming in frustration and scurrying back into their rat holes. I think Sanders is 7 or 8 years older than Trump. But that's okay. Back in New York, I knew an old Jewish guy who was 92 years old and he was still out jogging every morning.

Anyway, I don't think you've made a fool of yourself. I think we sometimes cling to the way things were when we were young... and when something new and different comes along, we regard it with suspicion or even distaste. I'm not anti-guns. As a matter of fact, I'm on record on this forum board, telling people to "Buy guns -- and learn how to use them" on many occasions in the past. My general position is that the only thing worse than guns is not having a gun when you need it. The police can't be everywhere at once.

We should all keep in mind that back in the early 70's, most Americans were opposed to impeaching Richard Nixon... until they saw the Watergate hearings on TV. White House Special Counsel John Dean's testimony, in particular, was devastating to Nixon, because within a week the public opinion polls shifted dramatically. Before long, we started seeing "IMPEACH WITH HONOR" bumper stickers all over the place. I expect something similar to happen in this era.... we need to have open, televised hearings into Trump's lawlessness. That's when we'll see Trump's approval rating drop down into the 20's, along with a widespread call for impeachment.

I'm still expecting Trump to leave office by the end of this summer... but we'll see.   8)

Well anyway, I have a somewhat different take on what Mueller did...

He knew going into his investigation that, according to DOJ guidelines, there was no way for him to indict Trump. He did, on the other hand, indict nearly 40 other people connected to Trump.

I think Mueller's idea was simply to hand over his report to Congress, and then let them decide how best to proceed. Given the constraints placed upon him by the DOJ, I don't see how he could have done otherwise.

Now... as for this perception that the Dems will somehow be harmed if they impeach Trump, I would like to remind everyone that back at the end of the 90's, the Republicans attempted to hastily impeach Bill Clinton, without having so much as a single hearing beforehand. And as we all know, their attempt failed miserably and embarrassingly for them. Nevertheless, in the following national election, the Republicans won the presidency, and did pretty good in the House and Senate, too. So I don't really see any precedent which would lead anyone to believe that impeachment will harm the Dems... especially given the fact that, unlike the Clinton case, the majority of the free world detests Donald Trump.

So I feel the the best way forward for the Dems is to hold publicly televised hearings, a la the Watergate hearings, and then move forward with impeachment if the evidence (and public opinion) supports it. I don't think it will harm them at all, really. Probably the opposite: most Americans will thank them.

Trump's rabid base is what concerns me. There is basically no precedent outside Germany in the 1930s for such a hardcore cadre of followers who will back their guy no matter what (and no, I am not saying Trump is the next Hitler, he is far too stupid...not to mention that he is a tool, directly or indirectly, of a foreign power, which Hitler was not). These people may riot in the streets if Trump calls them to. At the very least they will never support impeachment, because they see Trump as the guy to make white people great again. It is these people whose wrath will be exploited by more mainstream Repukes to try and make the Democrats suffer for any attempt at impeachment. We can only hope they direct part of that wrath at Republicans as well, condemning them as quislings and "RINOs" and voting out any Republican who voted to support impeachment. ::)

But maybe I'm just too pessimistic and cynical. Maybe I am underestimating the intelligence, discernment and integrity of my fellow Americans. Maybe Trump's base will wake up and realize they've been sold a bill of goods (I hope so because there are several in my own family...though I hope they at least are among the folks more likely to be swayed by actual evidence). We can only wait and see. I hope we can move past this dark chapter in American history...though I also fear our country may have permanently lost some of its international prestige, especially with the one-two whammy of the Bush II and Trump administrations (Obama was only able to restore part of what GWB cost us...and then along came Trump). This country, and planet, can not afford its slide towards the right wing. We need to course-correct and jump-start the Green New Deal, or else none of this shit will matter in 100 years when humankind is either extinct or heading that way...or at least reverting to savagery in the few remaining habitable areas of the planet, never again to rise as a technological society because all the easily accessible resources were tapped long ago (and gasoline goes bad in a couple of years, so no Mad Max stuff). :P

Oh, don't worry... they'll embrace the Green New Deal when gasoline costs $200/gallon.   ;)

I think people worry too much about Trump's base. Most of them are frightened and insecure little cowards, which explains why they embrace Trump. They think he's the tough guy, who's somehow going to save them all from obscurity. Almost none of them have the guts to actually take to the streets... and the ones who do will find themselves hopelessly outnumbered and squashed like bugs.

The first F18's that fly out of California and buzz their shitty little trailer parks will definitely put the fear of god in them. While they stand there holding their daddy's shotgun and saying "Holy shit, Zeke... I think we done gone and bitten off way more 'n' we can chew..." Silly, impotent little pricks.

On the other hand, I've long had a sense that the USA was headed toward some sort of widespread violent upheaval. Board veterans should recall that for quite a few years, I've been counseling everyone to "Buy guns -- and learn how to use them." I was saying that years before Trump ran for office. America has been a pressure cooker waiting to blow its lid off... and I think Trump simply capitalized on that slowly building pressure and fed into it. He's just a two-bit con man and a shameless opportunist.

I am of the opinion that most Americans are good people, who won't allow themselves to be sucked into that crap any further than we already have. It's easy for a bunch of yokels to sit around in a bar somewhere, sucking down cheap brewskies, and ranting about how they should get organized and slaughter all the liberals. It's quite another matter to actually go through with it, and find yourselves facing impossible odds and certain defeat.

So I'm gonna hope for the best, and prepare for the worst. I got a Remington tactical that'll turn the biggest Nazi asshole into a screaming, bleeding pile of hamburger. Let's just hope that it never comes down to that.

Robert Mueller has filed a complaint against William Barr. Specifically, Mueller has said that Barr misled Congress and the American people, with regard to the content of the Mueller report.

After filing his complaint, Mueller called Barr directly and expressed further displeasure with Barr's conduct.

I have a feeling that the current attacks upon women's rights will work on their subconscious. Yes, there are plenty of Republican women who are happy to be obedient little slaves and do whatever the men tell them to do. But not all.

And keep in mind that voting is a private affair. I think a lot of women will tell their men one thing... and then pull a different lever (so to speak) when they actually get into the voting booth.

Did anyone watch the two nights of debates between the Democratic nominees..?

Well actually, we can't even call them "debates." You can't have a proper debate when there are ten people on the stage, all waving their hands and shouting and trying to catch our attention during the measly 30 seconds allotted to each answer. This was more of an elimination round, than a debate. Kind of like a battle royal: let's see who fucks up the most and gets eliminated.

For example, on the first night, Tulsi Gabbard did an excellent job of ripping Tim Ryan to pieces. She was calm, cool and collected and she nailed the hawkish little weasel to the wall. It was bad -- Ryan may as well just drop out now. And on the second night, Kamala Harris famously took Joe Biden apart and I'm sure it will seriously hurt his poll ratings. Of course, Joe is the corporate Establishment's favorite little darling, so you can bet that they'll be frantically engaging in damage control for all of next week. But in my opinion, Joe Biden is now following his already established pattern: he starts off strong, on name recognition alone, and then as soon as he gets to the debate stage and opens his mouth... ZOOM, his standing plummets. This has been Biden's pattern every single time he has run for president, so at least he remains consistent, in that regard. I've heard that some people were playing a drinking game: take a drink every time that Biden says the word "Obama" during the debate. Must have been a lot of serious hangovers the next morning.

Mueller's appearance this morning was pretty damning, in my opinion.

However...

We need to see what effect, if any, his testimony has upon public opinion. These things usually take about a week or so to sink in... so pay attention to Trump's approval ratings next week and the week after.

If Trump's approval takes a nose dive (as I expect it will), then that's good... it means that Mueller's appearance has had the intended effect upon the electorate.

If, on the other hand, Trump's approval stays the same or... by some miracle... it actually goes up, then we'll know that the American republic is effectively doomed.

In which case, we're back to the same advice that I've been posting on this site for the past decade: BUY GUNS -- AND LEARN HOW TO USE THEM. The only thing worse than a gun is not having one when you need it. If this country becomes any more divided than it already is, then I suspect we're all gonna need it.

It would appear that a lot (probably most) of the Trumptards out there have failed to understand how impeachment works... so let me help you. 

First of all, we really don't care if the Senate refuses to convict Trump. They'll pay for that mistake in the 2020 election.

No, what we care about is the PROCESS within the House. Impeachment is not a legal process -- it is a POLITICAL process. Which means that Barr, Trump's lawyers and the courts will have NO POWER at all during those proceedings. The House can obtain documents, force witness testimonies and secure hard evidence as they see fit, with no possibility of outside interference. And then, all of that information will be made public. This is chiseled in stone within the Constitution, kiddies. If you would like to learn more, then I suggest reading up about the constitutional separation of powers within the U.S. federal government.

So no matter what the Republicans do or don't do, Trump will be torn apart and humiliated in the eyes of the voters and the entire world. Got it now..?   ;)

But they may not get the luxury of waiting that long. As of now, a majority of House Democrats favor impeachment. Also, public pressure is mounting. Nancy Pelosi has always been a catty little bitch and I think she's just trying to time this in such a way that it leads to a political advantage for the Democrats. Contrary to the bullshit that you often see on the web, Pelosi has never said "I won't impeach Trump." Up until recently, what she's been saying is "I won't impeach Trump right now." I also regret to inform you (and everyone else) that on this planet, we're it... we represent the last chance that the Earth has for producing a sentient, technologically advancing life form. Truth.

You see, in about 250 million years, this planet is going to become largely uninhabitable for most carbon-based life. The reason has nothing to do with anything man-made... it's because in about a quarter-billion years, our star, the Sun, will begin to fuse an increasing amount of helium in its core. When that happens, the Sun will emit a significantly increased amount of gamma and other types of hard radiation. Enough to effectively sterilize the entire surface of the planet Earth.

I'm not referring to the end of the Sun's life, when it will burn nothing BUT helium and go red giant on us... no, I'm referring to the star entering the next "sequence" of its life, when it will begin to burn ever-increasing amounts of helium, in addition to the hydrogen that it is already fusing at the present time. The core will burn hotter, the star will release enormously greater amounts of hard radiation, and life on this planet will most likely be extinguished. Even if some life forms cling to existence deep down on the ocean floor, it is unlikely that they would ever be able to move beyond that environment... and they would effectively hit a brick wall, so far as any further evolutionary development is concerned. The deep, cold, pitch-black ocean floor is not an environment which is conducive to the development of highly intelligent life. No, not even cephalopods.  :P

So, what this all comes down to is this: telling yourself "Who cares if humans go extinct... the Earth will just start over again with something else" is fallacious. It took over three-and-a-half BILLION years, from the dawn of life on Earth until the first hominid ape showed up, for this planet to produce a technological civilization. And as I have just explained, the Earth doesn't have that much time to do it all over again.

Bottom line: either we humans get our shit together, or we just might extinguish the only civilized life within our galaxy. We owe it to the universe to survive.

Now conservative brains were important, evolutionarily; the Australopithecus which ran for cover and the Homo erectus which grabbed a sharpened stick when something unfamiliar approached through the tall grass were much more likely to survive and propagate their genes then their curious and friendly "liberal-brained" cousins which were more likely to be eaten by a lion or killed by a hostile tribesman. Their conservative descendants built what we think of as "civilization" today - the city-states which rose in Mesopotamia, China, Mesoamerica, the Mediterranean and the Nile delta driven by "division of labor" (class stratification and social inequality) flourished when earlier "liberal" urban gatherings, where dwellings of roughly equal size and little discernible "districtification" crouched behind walls for protection, but their more egalitarian structure apparently made them fail to thrive for reasons which are unclear today. But you see, it has nothing to do with the money... it's all about GREED and ELITISM. See, if every single one of us was rich, then most of the elitists in this country would probably slit their own wrists. They absolutely can not feel good about their own lives unless they have more than everyone else. If everyone has $100, then they need to have $200. If everyone is a millionaire, then they need to be a billionaire. If you have a hot looking girlfriend, then they need to have a hotter looking girlfriend... even if she's a shallow-minded, materialistic cunt.

The primary season is getting underway... and the actual primary elections will be next summer, I believe. So if the Republicans are having any thoughts of nominating someone other than Trump for the 2020 presidential election, then NOW is the time to start moving on that idea. The lines are being drawn and they can't afford to drag their asses for much longer. If they stay with Trump, then they're going to lose. It's as simple as that.

If I'm right, then during the next few months, we'll see more and more Republicans breaking away from Trump and speaking out against him publicly. It won't be a mass exodus... it'll be a slow but steady trickle of defectors over the course of time. We shall see.

I saw this the other day, about Kentucky and VA.  Lot of funny things.

In Kentucky, Bevin has refused to concede, alleging "voter fraud," and is trying to use some obscure loophole to get the state legislature to declare him the victor, LOL.  This appears to be the new go-to strategy when republicans lose a race against a democrat, or in this case, are unseated by a democrat.  Remember Roy Moore -- the alleged sex offender who lost the special election for Jeff Session's old senate seat in Alabama a couple years ago?   He narrowly lost the election too just like Bevin and did the same thing; for weeks he tried to delay certification of the results and demand a totally new election.  Desperate much?

Now if Kentucky can just vote out that piece of shit Mitch McConnell; his seat is up for re-election in 2020, and the guy has done more damage to this country than possibly any US senator in history, which will continue even after he dies.  Remember when he refused to hold a confirmation hearing for Obama's supreme court justice pick because Obama only had a year left in his term?  That one issue alone will have effects that reverberate for decades because it allowed Trump to nominate a young, conservative justice for a life term.

LOL, don't you think it's interesting to look back in time just a couple years and reflect on how that bloody head thing was received and then compare it to the level of extreme hypocrisy we've seen in just that short period?  For that relatively benign stunt, Kathy Griffin was blacklisted by Hollywood, banned by all major media outlets, and shunned by politicians both on the left and right.  I think she was even investigated by the FBI.  She was reviled as distasteful, inciting violence: the usual bullshit.

Fast forward to 3 weeks ago, during a conference at one of Trump's resorts, Trump's surrogates played some juvenile video of "Trump Slaying His Enemies." (https://youtu.be/7GASAcM5tKM?t=42)  It was some stupid edited version of Trump shooting and dismembering various critics including Bernie Sanders, Romney, McCain (who is already dead anyway), and so forth.  Weirdly, it has Lynyrd Skynyrd playing in the background.

Apparently it's not okay for Kathy Griffin to pose in a still shot with Trump's bloody head, but publishing a video of Trump brutally massacring journalists and his political enemies is totally fine.  Only in America.

I also thought it was funny as hell when Kathy Griffin posted that photograph.  I really couldn't understand why the huge fracas over it.   It was a fucking prop. 

The silly little video of Trump killing his enemies doesn't bother me either, on its own.  The people who are acting devastated over it are just doing that for political theater, so I can excuse the phony outrage too.  What does bother me is the way in which the same behavior is received differently, depending on whether it's coming from a left-leaning comedian like Kathy Griffin or fanatical right wingers.

Kathy Griffin is awesome, though.  Even after the substantial damage it's caused it to her reputation, I read that today she still refuses to express any remorse over that photo.  Good for her, I say.

Was anyone else disgusted as I was to learn that Tulsi Gabbard voted "present" when the house voted to impeach Trump a few weeks ago?  I was totally unsurprised. As much I despise Hillary Clinton, I think there may actually be something to her statement that Gabbard may be a Russian asset, unwitting or not.  All but four house dems voted to impeach, one of them being Tulsi Gabbard.  Another of the four, Jeff Van Drew, whose district favored Trump in 2016, voted against impeachment because he was afraid of being unseated in 2020 and has switched parties to republican in anticipation of the election.  That's a whole other story, though.  I have no objection to someone going against the grain and voting with their conscience, but this was a case of voting with cowardice, not conscience.

Keep in mind that the ad WAS NOT produced by some left-wing, subversive group, gleefully trying to slander Trump. No, this ad was produced by REPUBLICANS. The Lincoln Project is comprised of Republicans, who recognize that Donald Trump is going to utterly destroy their party in America. Unbridled corporate capitalism has turned America into a house of cards and as we can see, it only takes one push from the outside to topple that house. This time, it's a virus. Next time, it could be a natural disaster... or a war... or some other type of national crisis. We need to rebuild America and create a more equitable society, with strong social programs and safety nets. Otherwise, this will happen again... and again... and again.

Predictably, all of the responses from the Trump trolls were 100% unsubstantiated nonsense. Each reply was more hateful than the last. So I posted a follow-up, in response to a comment made by a fellow progressive:

One troll actually mentioned Trump's ludicrous wall. "He's building a wall across the southern border." So I pointed out to the troll that, at the current rate of construction, Trump's wall won't be completed for another 48 years. Which is absolutely true. Predictably, he shot back something or other about Joe Biden... typically childish whataboutism, which is pretty much the only defense one ever sees from the Trump trolls. When I told him I didn't support Joe Biden, he stopped responding and scurried back to his safe place.

I guess my point is this: when presented with an opportunity to defend Donald Trump, none of his supporters are capable of doing so. I've been asking them simple questions like this for several years now and so far, not a single one of them has been able to rise to the challenge. That's very telling, dontcha think..? Their behavior fully supports my assertion that the ONLY reason these idiots cling to Trump is because he gives them the green light to be hateful, stupid little white trash bigots.

Good article. We saw something similar after 9/11: corporate America took advantage of the crisis and, with the help of Congress, gave themselves another big cash payoff.

In Atlanta, protesters attacked the CNN building, smashing windows and assaulting the police. Things were more peaceful in Los Angeles... but who knows how long that will last. It's happening, folks. Yesterday, Anonymous leaked evidence that Donald Trump was involved with sex trafficking of minors.

Propublica, an organization of journalists who are devoted to investigating fraud and abuse within government, published another article that demonstrates the corruption and incompetence that follows after every national disaster.

According to the Newsweek article, the plaintiff has filed and then withdrawn her case several times, due to serious death threats. In fact, she has been receiving death threats for more than 25 years.

There are several other articles that poke holes in this case, and they're all from very left-wing news sites, so there should be no conflict of interest. Apart from lack of credibility, the only other reason I can think of for why this story was buried so quickly is that it might draw too much attention to the child-raping tendencies of the rest of the elite.

According to some articles, her representative (Al Taylor/Norm Lubow) initially tried to sell that interview video for a solid 1 million dollars to media outlets. If true, I guess he gave up or it got leaked.

I didn't think much of the death threats because every woman who makes a public sexual assault claim receives them by the truckload, and she was offered round-the-clock security after she failed to show up at a press conference with Lisa Bloom (according to Lisa herself). I can believe that it was simply too much stress for her to continue pursuing the case, but there's been so many spurious sexual assault cases dominating the news cycle that I tend to assume ulterior motives are involved if there isn't any evidence.

How could she pursue a case like this against the president..? She'll have to wait until Trump is out of office. The DOJ is so far up Trump's ass that they'll never allow him to be touched -- until after he's out.

It really doesn't matter if people are trying to make money from her story. The question is whether or not it's TRUE... not whether or not people are trying to exploit it. I could care less if someone makes 20 million bucks from this story... the question still remains as to whether or not it actually happened and if it did, then Trump is an incredibly sick and dangerous individual. He belongs behind bars, for the rest of his life.

In that summary, they claim that they can't find any evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian intelligence agents.

Meanwhile, if you skim through the main body of their report, it lists dozens of examples of collusion. Serious examples of knowing and willing collusion between Trump and Russia.

I saw that report's release.  When the story broke, it was talked about for only a day then was quickly forgotten.  Imagine if it were Bill Clinton running for re-election in 1996 and that sort of thing came out about him instead of Trump.

He will be indicted on federal charges.  The Southern District of New York is a US district court, named for where it is geographically. Here's a statement from the US attorney's office which has some very interesting information about what these crooks did. Well he wouldn't be pardoned in any case, because presidential pardoning power is limited to federal cases only. But many, if not most, of Trump's crimes amount to STATE crimes committed mainly in NY and Florida. So what it comes down to is: the only person who could legally pardon Trump in NY would be Gov. Andrew Cuomo... and he hates Trump's guts. NY State could very well lock Trump in prison for more than 10 years... which at his age (along with Trump's poor health) effectively amounts to a life sentence. What is wrong with elections, in the states? Previous Election time, Hillary VS Donald, democrats shouted intervention, fraud, Russian hackers, refused to aknowledge the results initially etc. This time round, Trump VS Biden, republicans shout fraud, illegitimate votes, fake inspections etc.

Isn't there full transparency? From where does the room for such suspicion and rage over supposed cheating, comes from? And just what is the story with the servers being taken away (from the company tasked with automatic counting), or something like that, over which i read brief notions about (but never understood well)?

The elections are for the most part secure. Accusations of fraud made by the Trump team are spurious at best, outright lies at worst.

What happened in 2016 was different - in that case it was a targeted Russian propaganda campaign which exploited Hillary Clinton's known weaknesses.

Of course, a better candidate wouldn't have had as many glaring faults as Hillary - there would be no "October Surprise" if Bernie had been the candidate since all of his negatives are known.

Internet rumors don't count -- actual court cases count. Trump has lost 59 out of 60 court cases.

The Supreme Court will MUST not allow Trump to pardon himself.

No way in hell. It would set a horrible precedent... one that effectively invites future presidents from EITHER party to break all of the federal laws that they want to (up to and including mass murder), knowing that they can simply pardon themselves right before they leave office. It simply can not happen.

Imagine the following, admittedly extreme example: President Biden invites Mitch McConnell to visit him in the Oval Office. When McConnell arrives, Biden smiles and pulls a revolver out of his desk drawer... then he shoots McConnell in the head and murders him. Later, Biden pardons himself, for the crime of murdering a U.S. senator in cold blood. McConnell stays dead and Biden suffers no penalties of any kind whatsoever.

Later, Biden meets with Justice Brett Kavanaugh and likewise murders him in cold blood. Biden then pardons himself, for the crime of murdering a Justice of the Supreme Court. Again, no penalties for Biden... who then nominates one of his own lackeys to take Kavanaugh's place on the Court.

Get the picture..? If we allow presidents to pardon themselves, then the above extreme examples become a very real possibility in the future. Presidents could act as their own hired assassins, murdering their political foes with impunity. Or they could freely commit any number of other crimes. I can't imagine that the Court would ever throw the door open to that frightening possibility... hence, I do not believe that they will allow Trump to pardon his own crimes.

Meanwhile... back on Capitol Hill...

In my opinion, Donald Trump is guilty of fomenting an insurrection within the USA. Trump orchestrated this, when he asked his lunatic followers to come to D.C. and "it's gonna be wild," which is Trump code for "It could get violent." Trump very clearly encouraged them, in other words. He should be arrested immediately, charged and jailed. In any other civilized country, Trump would be behind bars by now. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
