First time I hear of it...

You know, at this time it is important to have some "peace of mind", at least enough to understand that you can survive without knowing everything to the last comma of the new things in the Internet. Sadly, younger people tend to think it's a matter of life or death to know everything...

Oh god... I think the thirties crisys is starting to grip me... "younger people"... And some age-distribution today in the gym... Why can't I be so damn quick with, I don't know, earning money? XD

They're making a big deal out of it because their generation is... unquestionably... the stupidest,
most immature, most ignorant, media brainwashed and downright infantilized generation to
have ever existed in modern history. This applies to almost everyone under the age of 25.

Arguing with me about this is pointless... because everyone knows deep down that I'm right
and more than that, everyone knows that I can prove it.

You might think that I hate the "internet generation," but I don't. I pity them. I think they all
need to wake the fuck up and get wise to the ways in which the system has emotionally and
psychologically crippled them. They don't lack intelligence, oh no... what they lack is insight,
awareness, self-empowerment and wisdom. Those things have been withheld from them for
their entire lives... and with utterly predictable results.

Every generation likes to believe that they are smarter and cooler than the generations which
preceded them. Well, this is the first generation to be born in well over 100 years for which
that perception is completely and utterly FALSE.

Some of you will get mad at me after reading this. Why..? Because you don't like reading the
truth about yourselves from someone older than you..? But getting mad at the truth is illogical.
It's much better to get wise instead... and start doing whatever it takes to grow the fuck up
and become TRUE adults.

Or, just stay stupid and languish within media-fed delusions for the rest of your lives. It doesn't
matter to me... not even a little bit. Somebody has to serve me at the drive-thru, right..?  Wink

Tess, I just say your position is right as a general rule, so as any rule it can have exceptions, this being some individuals.
Well, that and that you are understating the problem (XDDDD), and that I save my pity for myself, who have to live with them.

Oh, and you forgot to mention they are the most lonely generation of all written history, drown in alcohol and the perceived reality of the Internet.

If what you say is true, that's a reflection of the generation that preceded them.  Shame on you, for shaping the poisonous society that the newer generations are inheriting and that you built. This tends to cast a far more negative light upon your generation than it does upon one that was raised by yours.

By the way, most of the suicides in this country are by older people:

What's up with that?

Will,

It doesn't matter WHY your generation is crippled. We could argue about the reasons all day and night. And in the end, you would STILL be crippled.

And it doesn't matter if my words annoy or even anger you. They are still the truth, regardless... and it is the truth which matters the most here, not who is saying it.

This isn't a contest to determine which generation is the most fucked up. Yours is the one which is suffering the most -- not mine. That is where your focus should be. You can run around pointing fingers and blaming everything in sight, if that's what you feel is the best "solution." And in the end, your generation will still be an infantilized mess.

Nobody is going to give you fifty acres and a mule -- so now what..?

One aspect of wisdom is being able to determine which facet of a problem is the most significant and then, working on improving that aspect. So why don't you focus upon on that first..? Because right now, I want you to consider this: your reply looks like it was written by the poster child for everything that I brought up my previous rant. Instead of discussing the real problems in an insightful manner, you prefer to sulk in the corner like a child and point fingers. "Oh yeah..? I know you are but what am I..?!" And if that doesn't work, then what's next..? You gonna threaten to hold your breath until you turn blue...? How is that going to fix anything..?

This is a deep seated problem that your entire generation needs to face head-on. Insecurely diverting the attention onto others will not fix what is wrong.

I know some youngsters that are real losers.  Tess, you are right, they either try to tear you down and criticize you to justify their failures and shortcomings or, my favorite, "It's my parents fault I turned out to be such a loser!"  Sad man, real sad.  They give up on life so early.

While parents are a good and easy target to blame, the real source of all of this is the current situation of the "consumer society" we have been living in since a long time ago (more than 100 years, in fact). I'm not telling socialism is better, I'm telling that the consumer society has an absolute limit, and that doesn't need much of an explanation, just a little historical facts:

- All empires behave like living creatures, and thus they eventually die. The consumer society behaves like an empire. Do the logic sequence.

- The consumer society exists because people want more than they need. All the time. The idea of "buy to be happy" is instilled in the people since they are toodlers (new, shiny things to be happy, then we move to other stuff a little more complicated than your average plastic toy to chew). That has been engineered that way because the goods in the market exceed, by far, the needs of the population.

- "Consumer conspiracies" do exist. You see a humble bulb? They are made to last 1.000 to 2.000 hours. Period. There is still an old, Edison-time bulb always on, and it never needs replacing. Look at almost every electronic item you have. The older it is, the better it wears intensive use. Hell, my old 486 still works after 15 years... Not to mention an old Amstrad CPC 464 nearly 30 years old we have in the garage...

The problem is that the money behaves like the water, cycling in all positions (consumers, vendors, providers, makers who pay their workers and become consumers...), and the money is being held in hands of few people who have the propiety of the "makers".

I would place the majority of blame upon the following factors:

(1) Corporate greed.
(2) Corrupted politicians (as the result of #1).
(3) Subscription media (cable TV, internet, etc.)
(4) Inadequate funding for education and social programs.
(5) Video games (because they encourage lengthy periods of isolation, instead of real world human contact).
(6) An all-volunteer military (which by necessity means grooming young people from birth to be enthusiastic about military service).

Previous generations grew up with a certain degree of #1 and #2, but to nowhere near the degree seen today.

And previous generations did not grow up with #3, #4, #5 and #6. This is where I feel that the most serious problems arise.

It should be noted that parents can do little or nothing to counteract everything on that list. I do believe that bad parenting is a factor... but there is very little that a parent can do to protect their kids from ALL of that crap.

So I should have to worry about having my arse forced on the front lines because the rest of my generation is filled with blithering morons that don't know their hand from their foot?

Yeah. I hate my generation. 99% of them are a waste of oxygen, but I'm kinda isolated in the top 1% with my academic leanings, so I don't see as much of it as I should... then I take a walk down the street and see a bunch of drunken yahoos yelling insults at me as they drive past in their souped-up Japanese imports.

But I fundamentally disagree with forcing people to bleed for the nation.

But I fundamentally disagree with forcing people to bleed for the nation.

No, no... not forced. It's much more insidious than that. Read this entire post -- because it is very important.

First let me ask everyone an important question:

How do you maintain an all-volunteer military, despite being continually involved in foreign wars that most people would rather not participate in..?

Please think about that question carefully for a moment, before you read my answer.

...

....

.....

......

.......

Okay, now let me tell you how...

First, you deliberately cut funding to education... especially anything having to do with college prep, as well as properly funding student grants and loans. This places higher education out of reach for most disadvantaged (poor) families. In addition, it also ensures that most young people will grow up being poorly educated in general... and thus, a lot more gullible and easier to mislead.

Next, you make sure that there will be plenty of disadvantaged families... by continually buying up all of the property, outsourcing blue collar jobs, and so forth. This ensures that there will be lots of poor young people to use as a military resource.

Like anyone else, those kids just want to have a decent life... in which they feel as if they will be successful and important. So all you gotta do now is bait the hook...

And then, you fill the mass media with imagery and propaganda which makes military service look especially attractive to young people... and to young males in particular. This is the most insidious part of all, and you will find this sort of psychologically manipulative bullshit in everything from cable TV to video games to summer blockbuster movies. For instance, go take a look at the majority of video games which get marketed towards young males these days. How many of them are WAR GAMES..? How many of them feature player characters who are super-human soldiers..? How many of them are drenched in phony patriotic chest beating and manipulative "We need to do this to ensure our freedom" propaganda..? And you will see the same sort of message... whether overt or subliminal... being thrust at young people in almost every single mass media vehicle which exists.

This is what I meant when I said "groomed for military service." Your entire generation is being programmed to go fight wars on behalf of the super wealthy. Because let's face it... every single war that the USA has engaged in since WWII has been on behalf of the military-industrial complex. None of those wars... from Korea on upwards... had a single fucking thing to do with "preserving freedom" or "spreading democracy" or anything else that could even remotely be considered "noble" or "patriotic." Nope... all of those wars, including the current wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, are being fought in order to make some very wealthy people even more wealthy and powerful. That's it -- no other reason.

But nobody would willingly sign up for the army if they thought those were the real reasons, so the mass media has been doing its best to keep your entire generation fooled and manipulated and brainwashed. This is not just some lefty-pinko paranoia on my part, either. It is the fucking truth and if any of you can stand back for a moment and analyze your world in a rational and objective manner, then you will see ample evidence all over the place which totally supports my assertions on this matter.

So to sum it up:

(1) Keep people stupid (and dis-empowered).
(2) take away their options, so far as improving their own futures.
(3) Fill their heads with false imagery which makes the military seem "cool" and a desirable career choice.
(4) Place military recruiters on or near as many high school and community college campuses as possible... and then start luring young people to THEIR FUCKING DOOM.

Get the picture..?
