Get your console out of my PC

This is going to be something of a rant, so please just “bear” with me here.
What is with all of our iconic PC games turning into being crappy kiddie console ports for the PC. The PC used to be the platform of choice for a good, graphically pleasing and long gaming experience. You could save where ever you wanted, when you wanted. If you made a mistake, plain screwed-up, or just felt like restarting, you could go back to your last save and continue enjoying the game. Now you are forced to make it to a check point and you cant back track to a previous check point if you screwed up. You carried potions (packs) for health and sometimes mana or you choose not too, but it was your choice, not theirs.
Graphics dont mean a hole lot to me if, the game play is good, but it is nice when you can see all the hard work that a designer or texture artist put into a game just to make your experience more enjoyable. If you dont believe me, then take a good look at Half Life 2, VtMB, Oblivion, or Crisis, or take a good look at what the modders like Tessera, Ren or even DDLullu have done, you cant get that kind of detail with console graphics. I also remember when PC games took 35-40+ hours to complete and you payed 30-40 bucks US for them, now you pay 50-60+ dollars US and only get 10-15+ hours of play.
So here are a few examples of what I'm trying to get across.
Duke Nukem Forever:
Release Date: 6/14/2011
No jet pack
A driving time level (Duke don't drive) what a waist of time
No health packs just console type regenerating health
Blood splash on screen when you get hit
Stupid ass check points, instead of save where you want
Duke can only carry two weapons instead of an arsenal
Must have a Steam account to play. This maybe changed before release
and many more fuck-ups I'm sure
Dungeon Siege III:
Release Date: 6/21/2011
No health or mana pots just console type regenerating health, maybe some health globe drops
Stupid ass check points, instead of save where you want
Single Player is only about 15 hours
They still dont have the keyboard and mouse controls done (its coming out in June)
No point and click targeting
100% auto pick-up (no pick-up what you want), so far
and many more, I'm sure. Obsidian is being very tight lipped
Bioshock Infinite:
Release Date: TBA 2012
The same mistakes they made with Bioshock 2
In order to play you must have a GfWL account
No more picking on the console kiddies in Multi-Player (yeah I know they nixed that in 2 after a couple of months, but it was so fun pissing them off)
Crisis 2:
Release Date: Out now
No DX-11 support as promised, yet. They are promising to patch it in (yeah right EA like we haven't heard that before)
Single Player is only about 10 hours
Multi-Player is buggy, broken and full of hackers (good job EA, give MP to the hackers and cheaters)
The graphics are no where near the first one, I dont want next gen graphics, I just want the engine optimized, not dumbed down for a console
You have to use a fan made “advanced configuration application” to get the graphics to look worthy of a PC game
Same stupid AI as the first
Lots of reports of graphical tearing
Duke Nukem, Dungeon Siege, Bioshock and Crysis, all became what they are today because of the PC, not the console's. Yet the game publishers and developers seem to think that they can make more money by porting it to the PC after fucking it up just for the console's. Damn what a bunch of lazy fucks.
I honestly hope and pray that these company's go belly-up for doing such stupid shit, but the fan-boys and the idiots who cant think for themselves or those who dont know any better will probably keep them afloat.
OK I'm done, rant over. I apologize for the language but this kind of shit makes me mad as hell.

you left out Homefront, a cod, bc clone that has 1-1.5 hrs of single player game time. I paid $80 for that shit here is what you get on this port...
* Save points
* No health packs, you just magically regen health
* Poor AI
* Very limited game play area, you cant leave the pre defined area.
* You can't open doors yourself, you have to wait for the npc to open them.
* You can't jump unless they want you too in only 2areas in the game.
The thing that pissed me off was a rep from the developers went on the stream forum and said that some people complained of the shortness of the game but then in todays market define whats too short. This says it all developers just want your cash for less and less effort.
thats my 2c

Greed.

greed. The entire gaming industry has been consumed by greed.
SOLUTION: boycott
all
new PC games and just stick to playing the older ones. Or... get all of your newer games from The Pirate Bay for free.

You know what is funny? Modern day PC's are consoles too... Of course, you can also use it to do "serious things", but regarding gaming, they are consoles... Do you remember times, when you had to fight for every kB of free mem? When HDD capacity was 20MB (MB!) and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis confumed half of it... Today you just install game and it is biiig miracle if it doesn't run. My friend wrote beautiful PC vs. Consoles article - too bad it is in czech language...

Ah the good old days of having to tweak your autoexec file for each game's requirements.

This and they think it's harder for people to pirate console games.

Just Get them from Pirate Bay, no DRM's, to fool with, they are cracked from the get go, no internet access to cope with, and no installation required. Just unzip it to a folder and play.

Alkanoonion, like I posted in the OP, that was just a few of the games, but thanks for contributing that info, I haven't played that game (not a big CoD fan).
Another one that could be added to the list is American McGee's Alice:Madness Returns. I have been looking forward to this sequel of an insane game, but not only did EA get their greedy little hands on the publishing rights, but they are releasing it for the PC, PS3 and the X-Box 360. I wont be buying it until it hits the bargain bin (maybe), it depends on the DRM they'll use and how much they screwed it up for the PC. I have been boycotting EA since after they destroyed West Wood Studios, I did break my boycott for HellGate London, but I was right back on it, after finding nothing had changed.
I absolutely dislike piracy, they are one (of many) "so called" reasons for the draconian DRM schemes we have to deal with as PC gamers today. I know that is possibly a lie concocted by the publishers to get a strangle hold on us and make us jump through their hoops.

The autoexec.bat and config.sys were awesome, well excluding the first time I tried modifying them (did not help that I had no clue as to what I was doing, good thing I learned really fast...).

MS-DOS 6.22 ....I remember those days.
I had a menu set up in my config.sys/autoexec.bat files, so that I could boot
into multiple configurations (to accommodate various games). Good times.

Truly stupid... Once upon a time consoles needed a chip to run pirated games. Nowadays is just connect two little metal lines... And the only one with an unprepared console to run pirated games I know is me, mostly because it's been ages since I last played with my PS2... XD

DRM has not been made as an attemp to stop piracy. DRM came to being just because all that people directing the carnage of good games into mindless stuff with the same title need to justify to their masters some strategy to end piracy without reducing the speed of the money-stealing machine.

Speaking of Crysis 2...
There was a horrible issue on it - the screen would flicker bright white when I looked at the sky or a bright light source in the game. The reason: The game fails on all ATi Crossfire setups, which technically my (although single-card) dual-GPU 5970 is. In order to deal with this problem, which still remains unpatched, I had to rename the Crysis 2 exe to bioshock.exe to force my graphics card to load the profile for Bioshock.
This is ridiculous. Crossfire users are kinda an important part of their customer base...
I've also noticed several annoying bugs. With a sniper rifle at least, the first shot out of cloak mode doesn't register. I've tested this again and again, after wondering why my perfect headshots weren't connecting.
Multiplayer also feels way too much like Call of Duty - in fact, the system with unlocks is exactly like MW2 (fortunately I never bought that pile of shit - I've played it as a party game on a friend's Xbox).
I've not tried singleplayer yet, but I'm ready for disappointment.
I don't think it's a result of it being on console, it's a result of... lazy programming I guess.
