That is correct. Unless the author specifically states that his or her mod is 100 percent compatible
with the True Patch Gold Edition, then there is a very high probability that using those mods with
our patch will cause conflicts and problems.

The issue that Derf has described, for example, is almost certainly being caused by a mod conflict.
My advice would be to contact the authors of the mods in question and ask them for help.

So after reading/skimming through this thread I have not found a solution to what ails me so here it is:

I am having some trouble installing the patch, specifically the optional utility section.  Maybe you have had these inquires and answered them before and if so I apologise but the search function did not return anything relevant when I tried.  I have a widescreen monitor so I am trying to make sure the game makes use of that fact.  I have yet to play the game as I like to get my games all fixed up and pretty before I jump inside them and start stimulating.

I:  I can't find the config.cfg file.  Maybe this is because I haven't started the game yet but for me the only file inside C:\Program Files\Activision\Vampire - Bloodlines\Vampire\cfg is autoexec.cfg

II: Whenever I try to add the switches to the command line like so "C:\Program Files\Activision\Vampire - Bloodlines\vampire.exe -w 1920 -h1080" it gives me an error message that says:

The name 'C:\Program Files\Activision\Vampire - Bloodlines\vampire.exe -w 1920 -h1080' specified in the Target box is not valid.  Make sure the path and file name are correct.

Thanks for the assistance.

Launch the game and the config.cfg file should automatically be written by the game engine.

Place any command line switches OUTSIDE of the quotation marks. Like this:

"C:\Program Files\Activision\Vampire - Bloodlines\vampire.exe" -w 1920 -h1080

Note that the widescreen commands will not work properly until after you have used the VTMB ResPatcher utility. That utility is included with the True Patch Gold Edition and you will find it within the sub-folder labeled "Extras\Utility." Full instructions on how to use that utility are likewise included within that sub-folder.

You will also find a nifty thread in the members-only section of this board, that talks about additional ways to force the Bloodlines engine to render its graphics in super-high detail.

I noticed a discrepancy in the way your target resolution was written, a space was missing
It should read exactly like this (minus the color): "C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Vampire - Bloodlines\vampire.exe" -w 1920 -h 1080 or you will get the error again

If your using Win 7, you should download "notepad++" to get around the admin issues that are inherent in Win 7 (its free)

I signed up just to say I am so grateful for this patch! I was wanting to try this game for a while and finally realized it was on steam.  So i bought it and being on Vista 64 it would instantly crash.  So I google searched and found this and it works like a charm.  Oh thank you so much you're awesome <3

@ Tessera which bugs left in the game now ?

None that matter. Everything that was even a little bit important has been fixed by the Gold Edition patch.

The original gameplay... as intended by Troika... has remained intact. It simply isn't broken anymore.  Cool

There's probably still a few dialogue repairs that I've missed here and there... considering that there were literally hundreds of dialogue errors in the original release of Bloodlines. But if there are any leftover, then they are extremely minor. Hence I do not consider those things to be very important.

Regarding dialogue errors in general: I think what happened is pretty much what you might imagine. As with any game, the devs at Troika handed the voice actors a script. But those voice actors are all exceptionally gifted performers and they no doubt strayed from the script on occasion, in order to make their vocal delivery seem more natural and believable. But meanwhile, all of the printed out dialogue that we see displayed in the game was based upon the wording in the -original- script. This is why we often find that the words printed at the bottom of our screen do not exactly match what the NPC's are actually saying. So during the development of the True Patch, we did our best to correct as many of those dialogue entries as we could... but as I say, there are literally hundreds of them. So there may indeed be a few tiny discrepancies left over. For what it's worth, the subtitles in movies are often different from the spoken dialogue, too. But just so long as the gist of the dialogue remains intact, then I'm not going to bitch about it too much if we missed a few here and there.

Side note: it is good to see that the good folks over at White Wolf have correctly listed our work as a patch, and Wesp's work as a mod (which is precisely what it is). Consider the following excerpt from the White Wolf Wiki:

Quote from: White Wolf
...a succession of fan-made mods and patches have since been released even though Troika have now disbanded; few noticeable bugs are left, and many features disabled by the developers have been finished and re-enabled. The "True Patch Gold Edition" has been released, which concentrates solely on fixing bugs and restoring unused content to the game. The "unofficial patch" mods have now reached version 7.2 and are more about gameplay changes than they are bug fixes.

The above quote was taken directly from the Bloodlines page of the White Wolf Wiki: http://whitewolf.wikia.com/wiki/Vampire:_The_Masquerade_-_Bloodlines

So there you have it... once again. If you simply want to PATCH your game, then the True Patch Gold Edition is actually the -only- legitimate patch on the web right now. If on the other hand you wish to MOD your copy of Bloodlines, then perhaps you would be better off with one of Wesp's ez-mode mods. He releases a new version every second Tuesday, so it shouldn't be too hard to find... if that is indeed your cup of tea.  Tongue

Well , good to hear this quote Smiley
I not want Wesp's crap Cheesy And I have an idea for this gem Smiley You know I think later source engine have antialiasing support . But not in this game
I not try yet but Nvidia cards support force antialiasing in game . And it works most of games. Maybe works in the VTMB ?

Forced anti-aliasing does indeed work just fine in VTMB, yes.

Excellent. White Wolf itself now validates your work as a patch. Cool Fuck those assclowns at Wikipedia. Angry

It's the first time I ever looked at it. Someone else sent me that link,
because they thought I would be interested. And I was pleasantly surprised to see
the Gold Edition properly cited as being a genuine patch for VTMB.
