*** CRITICAL ANNOUNCEMENT -- TO ALL MEMBERS ***

If any of you are using gmail for your e-mail address, then you need to change it immediately.

The reason is because I am going to be BANNING all gmail addresses from this board soon. The web is crawling with ad-bots these days and I am simply fed up with constantly banning individual spammers. Well as it turns out, about 99% of those spammers sign up using a gmail address when they register. So by banning any and all gmail addresses, we'll get rid of a huge number of present and future spammers in one felled swoop.

I am sorry if this inconveniences anyone. I know that we have a few legitimate members who registered with a gmail address when they signed up for this board. But I am afraid that this is a necessary inconvenience. The people who run Gmail don't seem to care if web-bots use them for phony email addresses. That's a shame, but it leaves me with very little alternative than to ban any and all gmail accounts... right across the board. They asked for it... and now they're going to get it.

On February 1st, 2010, I will be permanently banning all gmail addresses from this forum board. This means that anyone trying to register using a gmail address will be prevented from doing so. BUT IT ALSO MEANS THAT ANY AND ALL LEGITIMATE ACCOUNTS WHICH USE A GMAIL ADDRESS WILL LIKEWISE BE BANNED ON FEBRUARY 1st, 2010.

If you are a legitimate member of this board and if you registered using gmail as your e-mail address, then you must immediately change it to some other WORKING e-mail address. Failure to do so by the Feb 1st deadline will result in your account being automatically banned from this board, along with all of the other gmail accounts.

I am sorry folks, but don't yell at me. Go yell at the spammers. These fucking parasites have got to GO, once and for all. I can't get rid of all of them, but I can sure throw a huge monkey wrench into their machinery by banning gmail from this board. So, that is precisely what I intend to do... starting on Feb. 1st.

FOLLOW UP:

I realize that this general ban against gmail is going to be a hassle for some people. If so, then I have another option for you:

Trusted and veteran members of tessmage.com who are using a gmail address may be eligible for their own exclusive tessmage.com e-mail address. We happen to have our very own mail server and it functions the same as any other mail server does (POP3, IMAP, SSL, etc.) As a matter of fact, I use one myself (tessera@tessmage.com). Contact me via private message if you are interested and we'll set you up. That way, you can get around this gmail ban without having to jump through too many hoops.

Note that this offer is only open to trusted members in good standing who are known to me. Lurkers and newbies need not apply.

Forty-seven spambot accounts have been banned and deleted from this board since the day when I first posted this announcement.

FORTY-SEVEN in only a week.

And nearly ALL of those accounts were using gmail addresses when they signed up.

Need I say more..?

This ban is justified and it will go into effect in three weeks from today. So if any of our legitimate members are still using gmail on their account profiles, then you have three weeks to change it.

I'm sorry... I really am sorry for any inconvenience... but enough is enough.

We still have people signing up for new accounts using gmail as their e-mail address. That's a big no-no.

You are welcomed to be here and we are happy to have you (so long as you are not spammers). But I need to make this very clear to everyone: IF YOU ARE USING GMAIL AS YOUR ADDRESS, THEN YOU ARE GOING TO BE BANNED IN TWO WEEKS. That is the deadline for everyone to edit their profiles and switch to ANY other e-mail address than gmail.

And please don't yell at me... go yell at the spammers instead. You can start with the Chinese, the Russians, the 50 or so raghead spammers we nailed from Yemen and the nitwits in Romania and Belarus. Those are the people who are ruining it for everyone else. I am just responding to it, in the most decisive way that I can.

Perhaps I have not made myself clear... or maybe none of you are bothering to read important announcements like this one.

Please re-register using some other e-mail address besides gmail. I am giving you folks plenty of advance warning and I WILL NOT fix your accounts for you after the deadline. Take responsibility and fix it yourselves... or else risk being banned forever after Feb. 1st.

There is one week left until the deadline for all gmail users.

Also, in preparation for the upcoming gmail ban, I will be routinely DELETING any new accounts that have signed up using gmail as their e-mail address.

You folks have been adequately warned about the upcoming anti-spam ban on gmail. So if new users are still signing up using gmail, then you are either (1) foolishly not reading this announcement or (2) a clueless asshole who thinks that the rules do not apply to him/her or (3) an automated spambot or (4) a person who can not read English... in which case you don't belong on an English-speaking web site in the first place.

One more week, folks. If gmail users wish to retain access to this forum board, then you absolutely must change your e-mail information right away (if you have not done so already).

Once the deadline has passed, I will not be accepting any sob stories from members who got locked out of this board due to their own failure to follow the rules. Sorry, people... but I'm holding up my end already, by giving everyone PLENTY of advance warning. It is your responsibility to take care of YOUR end.

The general ban against gmail will go into effect on Monday, February 1st.

All accounts... both present and future... which have a gmail address attached to them will be forever banned from accessing these Forums. If you are a current member and if you have not yet changed your e-mail information on your profile to *anything* other than gmail, then this is your last chance to do so before the February 1st deadline.

If you are not using gmail as your e-mail address, then this notice will not apply to you. This ban will only affect gmail users. The purpose of this ban is to put an immediate halt to the sheer number of unwanted "spam bots" that have been flooding most blogs and forum boards these days... including ours. More than 90% of those bots have been using gmail as their e-mail provider, hence this upcoming ban.

The message should be clear, folks: spamming, hacking and any other type of dishonest behavior will not be tolerated on this web site. We are 100 percent honest and up-front on our end... so it is your responsibility to respond in kind. If that seems unreasonable to you, then you will have to look elsewhere for your entertainment.

Offenders... especially repeat offenders...  will be banned permanently, with absolutely no hope of having that ban reversed. That is the law... that is also final... and no amount of trying to get over on me is going to get you what you want. So just register and behave honestly... or else you'll be out on your ass. Period.
