Have you seen the official Assassin's Creed forums..?
http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/frm/f/4721051016
Just about every single thread is a complaint thread. Almost every damned one. It's astounding.
BOYCOTT ASSASSIN'S CREED, PEOPLE. DON'T GIVE YOUR MONEY TO GREEDY CON MEN. THEY DON'T DESERVE IT, NO MATTER HOW GOOD OR BAD THEIR GAME MIGHT BE.
Once again, we see how the industry ENCOURAGES honest people to become pirates. When you punish your customers, then a large percentage of them will inevitably get fed up with this entire scam and just start hacking and torrenting the living shit out of these miserable excuses for PC games. I'm seeing posts from people who probably never pirated a single game in their lives... but now, they're starting to consider it. A very predictable outcome.
And as usual, the blind greed of the software industry results in
the exact opposite
outcome from what they had intended.
Good job, Ubisoft. I hope you fuckers lose a shitload of money as the result of your insulting behavior.
Oh... and to whomever is responsible for the hacker attacks upon Ubisoft's servers..? Keep up the good work.

Some people posted on the escapist that it a bullshit excuse form Ubisoft to avoid responsibility.
Also, you have people defending them and in broken English too.

Where is Ubisoft's headquarters..? Do they have any foreign business partners..?
I'm suggesting that some of those posts may be coming from stooges on their payroll.

I bet most of those english iliterates defending Ubisoft are from Spain. After all, we are either masochists, stupid or plainly simpatethic to exploitative business (in the hopes we will be able to be one...).
Well, I hope Ubisoft's servers won't come up. Ever. So they will be forced to either release a patch to nullify the "be connected to play" crap, or to reimburse the people's money. Hell, they are a company, so if they become cornered they'll have no choice but to disable the crap.

Check out the discrepancy between gamespots's score of this game and the user's score.

All of the reviews on GameSpot are paid for in advance by the publishers of said games. That is a fact and it has been known for quite some time that GameSpot accepts payola on a routine basis.
My main reason for withdrawing the True VTMB Patch from GameSpot nearly two years ago was because I became disgusted by their dishonest and downright whore-ish business practices. And when it was revealed that GameSpot actually fired one of their veteran staff members for publishing an honest (and negative) review of a bad game... well, that was the last straw for me. That guy did his job correctly... and he was fired for it. Do you realize what kind of an example that sends to anyone looking for employment..? "Don't do a good job -- do a dishonest job. Otherwise, you'll get fired." I can't think of anything more shameful and repulsive.
GameSpot may be a fun web site for gullible teenagers... but anybody with half a brain in their heads should avoid GameSpot and similar commercial gaming sites like the plague.
You can't get an honest review from the large commercial sites these days. They have very little morality and even less of a sense of ethics. Just steer clear of them, and get your reviews from smaller "fansites" which don't take any money from the publishers.

Best review ever:
1.- Download a pirated version of the game.
2.- Play it to your heart's content.
3.- If you feel the game deserves it, buy it.

But, do you have a choice in the mater, not to many choices out there. Better yet , the discount bin, I can wait.

Kandid, I agree with you completely; which is WHY I will NEVER buy another issue of Cumpuker Gaming Ragazine. As Tess pointed out, THEIR so called "game reveiws" are nothing more than bought and paid for advertising.
Same sad and sorry old bullshit, you can't trust anybody including the so called "objective" media these days.

I'll tell you what Ubisoft is going to do:
They're going to maintain their sickening DRM scam for as long as it takes, until they sell enough copies of AC2 to satisfy their bean counters.
And then, they'll issue a patch to remove the online DRM requirement... along with some lame-ass statement that makes them sound as if they're the good guys who had a change of heart, after they felt concerned about all of the complaints against them. And then, they'll sit back and smile and enjoy a bunch of new sales, from all of the people who refused to purchase the online DRM version. "Oh... well then I guess we can buy this game now. They've had a change of heart, after all..."
Folks, don't believe that bullshit when you finally hear it. It's just spin, intended to deceive you. The best way to combat this kind of crap is to boycott not only this game, but ALL games released by Ubisoft. Avoid their products... or pirate them to your heart's content, if you wish. But don't give these jackasses a single penny of your money, folks. If you want these things to stop happening in the PC gaming industry, then you absolutely must put your money where your mouth is and
BOYCOTT DRM
. Punish the industry, and they'll be forced to stop doing this to you.

To tell you the truth I was planning to buy AC2 if they removed the online requirement but not anymore. I'm not planning to buy anything from Ubisoft, ever again.
They can shove their little dicks into a meat grinder and die.
